Wanelo.

Ok, think Pinterest, except you can easily buy all of the items you pin. Genius, right? That's what Wanelo is. You can search, tag, or save all the different products you see. My sister introduced me to this and now I'm addicted. Everything is so cute and unique, and surprisingly reasonably priced!

Giving Thanks II

I had the most perfect Thanksgiving. I was off work Wednesday-Sunday which was AH-MAZ ing. My mom and I cooked a lot of the day Wednesday and Thursday morning. We eat at my house in the afternoon, then my sister and I head up to Kittanning to enjoy a second dinner with my dad's family.

We were crazy this year and went out at ten PM to go shopping! My mom, her friend Jackie, my sister and I all went out and made it all the way until 7:30 a.m. We had a little moment when we went to Denny's around 5 a.m.--falling asleep at the table, they were out of eggs, the place was dirty, cooks were fighting--basically a big disaster. We stopped at JCP afterwards and decided to call it a day, or night whatever. I slept great until about 3 o'clock, then WENT SHOPPING AGAIN! How that even happened I don't know. Good news is that I'm pretty much done with Christmas shopping. I counted up my receipts yesterday--sjflksdjflkdsf is all I can say about that. It's kind of sad how much we spend on this holiday when it has nothing to do with the real meaning of CHRISTmas. I do love getting gifts though--and for those people who say they love giving WAY more than receiving, you're full of it. I love receiving gifts too. I appreciate how creative people can get with their gifts--creative and personal mean the most!

Anyway, here's some of the deliciousness we had on our table. I made the pumpkin pie, brussel sprouts, and pumpkin dip--oh and the crescent rolls. My mama can take credit for everything else.

The pumpkin dip was super easy--here's the recipe:

1-8 oz cream cheese

1 container cool whip

1 box vanilla pudding mix (just use the powder)

1 tbsp cinnamon

1 tbsp pumpkin pie spice

2 cups powdered sugar

1 can pumpkin

Beat the cream cheese with the powdered sugar, add the pudding powder, spices and pumpkin pie mix. Fold in the cool whip. Refrigerate for at least an hour before serving. Serve with graham crackers!

The Dark Side of the Moon

Free People recently opened a new store in Pittsburgh in the Bakery Square complex in East Liberty. Bakery Square quickly became an up-and-coming area in the city. The I Made It! Market is a frequent visitor and the shops and restaurants include Anthropologie, Boxwood, Learning Express, Panera Bread and is home to Pittsburgh’s Google office.

I love Free People’s new line inspired by various models and musicians including Stevie Nicks and Florence Welch.

Terrain

Have you ever visited Terrain? I stumbled across it the other day and since then I can't stop going back. I haven't purchased anything yet but I have my eye on a few things. I love the simplicity, yet unique and beautiful colors of many of the items. Gardening has always had a special place in my heart and there are some amazing outdoor items on the site. Lancaster

A couple weeks ago I spent the weekend in the land of the Amish--Lancaster, PA. I was surrounded by farms, horse and buggies, lots of fresh veggies, and the towns of "Bird-In-Hand" and "Intercourse." Ok, it's also the land of my best friend, Kaitlyn.

I got to spend a few days with her which is always nice since we really don't see each other enough. One of my favorite bands, Dawes, performed Sunday night at a free concert series at Long's Park. They were amazing as always, and the venue was beautiful.

Monday was spent doing the typical touristy things in Lancaster. I've been there many times before, however never really stopped in any of the towns or villages. We had lunch at the most amazing little place, the Tomato Pie Cafe. Let me tell you--if you're ever in Lancaster or even near there you have to go to this place. We had the most delicious roasted red hummus platter, then I had the beet and goat cheese salad and Kate had a sweet potato and mascarpone sandwich. We spent the rest of the day visiting the old Wilbur Chocolate factory, the Jam & Relish Kitchen, a little petting zoo and many other shops and restaurants.

It really was a perfect little weekend.

Lawrenceville

I guess this is kind of like a "Part II" to my post about the Strip District. If you keep on driving down Penn Avenue and veer to the left, you'll find yourself on Butler Street and in a little part of the city called Lawrenceville. This area is definitely on the rise and always has new restaurants and boutiques. It's a pretty "hip" area with tons of character. Every time I walk or drive down the street, I always tell myself that I MUST come here more often--but somehow that thought always gets pushed to the back of my brain/to-do list. Well, as I was again hanging up posters, I decided to take some time to really take in the area--the beautiful flowers, the fun shops, the smell of delicious food--it was all surrounding me just begging me to stay, but duty calls and I needed to continue with my "work" instead. If you check out my Visit Pittsburgh tab you'll notice that some of my favorite places are located in Lawrenceville, my absolute favorite being Wildcard. I am a paper and stationary freak, so this is like heaven to me. So, next time you're looking for something to do--head to "LoLa" in the late afternoon, do some shopping, stay for dinner, catch a show and have some drinks. You'll be happy that you did!

The Strip District

I always tell anyone who is visiting Pittsburgh to find room in their schedule to visit the Strip District. It's this little part of town right next to the city that is filled with tons of culture, good food and interesting people. Saturday mornings are the best, but really any day you're there the stores are open and vendors are set up. I always prefer Saturdays because the Public Market is open and there are always more vendors along the street. It is more crowded, but if you want the full experience that's the time to go! I've been busy hanging posters for our Summer Concert Series, and when I walked through the Strip I couldn't help but take some pictures... and stop for some olives, goat cheese & fresh flowers!

Not On The High Street

NotOnTheHighStreet.com is one of the best sites ever.

It is run by two lovely ladies out of the UK

& features all kinds of unique and inspiring treasures

from a wide variety of sellers. 

Lots of the merchandise can be personalized--

the prints, jewelry, signs, etc. can all get your name on it. 

I'm a little obsessed with the site. 

I think the fact that it's run out of the UK has a lot to do with it. 

My love for all things British really shines when I'm browsing the site.
