Roshambo

This video comes from the wonderful people at Free People. I saw it on the Bldg 25 Free People blog in February, and I’ve watched it countless times since. It’s 3 minutes, 34 seconds of pure love and beauty. I got tears in my eyes the first time I watched it. How could something so simple and short carry such emotion?

Basically the couple plays “roshambo” or rock, paper, scissors to decide various things in their relationship, the biggest one being if the guy will stay or leave. I’m anxiously awaiting the part II to this mini-film.

Natural Elements & Easter

Here in Pittsburgh everyone has been crossing their fingers hoping for just a peek of spring weather. We've had the craziest winter--cold, rain, 50 degrees, 12 in. snow... just the most inconsistent winter season you could imagine. I woke up yesterday and had to clean off an entire foot of snow off my car! Now it's all melted and about 40 degrees, and this weekend is supposed to be almost 60. I've hated this winter more than any other. Spring is what's on my mind. It always feels like a fresh start--new clothes, being outside, better attitude. With spring comes one of my favorite holidays, Easter. Christmas Eve church service will always be my favorite, but I love Easter Sunday. Everyone comes to church in their pastel colors, beautiful spring flowers are on the altar, and you leave feeling happy, blessed, and thankful. With Easter comes another chance to decorate! You know I love decorating for the holidays, and Easter time is a great way to tie in natural elements to your decorations. Here are some ideas I'm excited to recreate. Yoga

One week ago today I went to my first "hot" yoga class at Yoga Flow in Murrysville. I had done yoga before, took a couple classes and did some workouts at home, so I was fairly confident that I would do okay. But when you walk into that hot room--I'm talking hot--like you rest and sit on your butt and you're still dripping sweat--all bets are off. It was harder, longer, and better than any yoga I've done before. I think it's safe to say I'm borderline obsessed with this new part of my life. I even created a yoga Pinterest board to see new poses, read inspirational quotes, and browse through the completely over-priced yoga wear. It makes me wish I would have started this years ago. My stress, worry, tension, tiredness is all slowly going away. It's definitely not gone, but I can absolutely notice a difference--and that's only after three classes and some minor work at home. I've been nothing but surprised and satisfied with my short, but definitely long-term yoga experience.  The great thing about yoga, is that anyone can do it--young, old, flexible, stiff, big, small--it doesn't matter. You can stop at any time, rest, drink some water, it's all about YOU and YOUR body. It's amazing that for an hour I don't think about anything but my body, my breathing, my soul. A great teacher will inspire you to do more than you thought you could--and Yoga Flow definitely has some amazing instructors. I'm anxious (in a good way) to learn more, grow with yoga, and get my dang heels on the ground while in downward dog!

Valentine's Day in Woodstock

Kev and I had the chance to spend Valentine's Day in one of our favorite places--Woodstock, NY. After our short time in NYC, we drove the short drive north to spend some time in this great hippie town. I made us reservations at The Bear Cafe--it was set in the woods and looked like an old log cabin, it was beautiful and I'd love to go back in the fall when the leaves are all colorful. I had lobster bisque, a beet and goat cheese salad, and carrot cake! Kev had a big chicken caesar salad and warm apple crisp. It was all delicious! There's lots of window seating, but we sat by the fireplace. It was relaxing and just perfect.

Friday we woke up early and walked around the town--it was a bit deserted, February must be a down month for Woodstock. We went to see Levon Helm's grave and found Rick Danko's--both members of The Band. Everything was pretty similar to what we saw the last time we were in Woodstock, but it's still fun to see. We had a great breakfast at Oriole 9 then drove to see Big Pink--the house where members of The Band lived and recorded their album "Music From Big Pink." I've become kind of obsessed with that Jane Fonda movie "Peace, Love and Misunderstanding" and it's all based in Woodstock, so it was neat to see the places where scenes from that movie were shot.

Imagine.

After The Chew I did something I've been wanting to do for years and years. I couldn't believe that with all the times I've been to New York City, I've NEVER been to Strawberry Fields in Central Park. Being that it's February, it wasn't the most beautiful it could be, but I got the idea. Obviously I'm a big Beatles fan, so this was an awesome experience for me. On December 8, 1980, John Lennon was shot and killed while walking into his apartment at The Dakota. In 1985, Strawberry Fields was formed directly across the street in Central Park. It's a beautiful memorial to Mr. Lennon and just a wonderful thing to see. In the summer and during his birth and death dates the imagine mosaic is filled with flowers and memorabilia all in honor of Lennon and his life.
